Brosnan and Perales Join UH History Faculty
The University of Houston Department of History welcomed Kathleen A. Brosnan and Monica Perales to its ranks during the 2003-2004 academic year, adding to its established strength in environmental history and Chicana/o history and building on its growing focus on the history of the American West.
Brosnan received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1999, and held a tenure-track position in Tennessee before arriving at the University of Houston. She also holds a J.D. from the University of Illinois. Her research focuses on the intersections of environmental, urban and legal history in the western United States. Her first book, Uniting Mountain and Plain: Cities, Law and Environmental Change along the Front Range, was published in 2002. (www.unmpress.com/Book.php?id=2368). Brosnan is currently working on an environmental and cultural history of the Napa Valley wine industry.
