UH Faculty Lead Environmental Encyclopedia Project
Posted: March 23, 2006
Kathleen Brosnan, associate professor of history and research director of the UH Center for Public History, is the editor-in-chief of the forthcoming Encyclopedia of American Environmental History to be published by Facts On File in late 2007 or early 2008. Dr. Martin Melosi, the Distinguished University Professor of History, and Dr. Joseph Pratt, the Cullen Chair of History and Business, are associate editors.
In four volumes and more than 800 entries, the Encyclopedia of American Environmental History will tell more traditional political, social, and economic narratives from an environmental perspective, while bringing issues traditionally viewed solely as environmental subjects into the broader framework of U.S. history.
The editors are still seeking contributors to the encyclopedia. Interested parties should send inquiries to Robert Thompson, assistant editor and UH doctoral candidate, at eaeh@mail.uh.edu.
