Professor Decker Receives Prestigious Honor
Posted: August 21, 2006

Professor Hannah Decker of the University of Houston History Department has received a prestigious honor. She has been invited to be the 2006-2007 Eric T. Carlson Memorial Lecturer in the History of Psychiatry at Cornell Medical College.

Sponsored by the Cornell Institute for the History of Psychiatry and the Department of Psychiatry at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, the annual Carlson lecture recognizes one scholar who has made lasting and outstanding contributions to the field. Prior speakers have included Roy Porter, John Burnham, Nathan Hale, German Berrios, and Charles Rosenberg, among others.

The Carlson lecture consists of a Grand Rounds on a historical topic of Dr. Decker's choosing at the Manhattan and White Plains campuses, and a seminar presentation on a different topic delivered to our Institute for the History of Psychiatry research group. The date is tentatively scheduled for April 17 and 18, 2007.

Dr. Decker's colleagues at UH salute her for this well-earned honor.
