The University of Houston welcomes two internationally renowned scholars working on the history of Texas on April 18 and April 21.

Miguel angel Gonzalez Quiroga will speak on "Conflict and Cooperation on the Mexico-Texas Border, 1840-1880." Gonzalez Quiroga is a professor of history at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey. He most recently edited a reproduction of Melinda Rankin's 1875 memoir, "Twenty Years Among the Mexicans: A Narrative of Missionary Labor," published by SMU Press. This lecture will be on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in AH 520.

Stuart Reid, the author of The Secret War for Texas: James Grant's Alternative Revolution (Texas A&M, 2007), will speak on Monday, April 21, 2008, Noon - 1:00 p.m., in AH 520. Reid, who hails from Scotland, will discuss his work in public and military history.
