MARCIN' DOWN TO FREEDOM'S LAND
This was an important song during The Civil Rights Movement in the Southern U.S.A. during the 1950-s and 1960's when many black and white activists and students protested against discrimination laws and the segregation of races in public places. Many went to jails and many were beaten severely by white policemen but they continued to sing songs of freedom in the jails to keep their hope strong for freedom.
