A specialist in Colonial American history, Susanah Shaw received her PhD from Cornell University in 2000 She is currently revising her dissertation, "Building New Netherland: Gender and Family Ties in a Frontier Society." Her research combines an interest in women with research on frontier interactions and transatlantic trade. Her teaching interests include the history of Early America, Comparative Frontiers, Women in America, and theAtlantic World
